Kate attended her first Women of the Well Weekend Retreat in November of 2023. We asked Kate to share a little about why she wanted to attend one of our retreats and what her experience was like.
“For me, being able to have time for nourishment of Spirit, to stop and ponder, has strengthened my own journey. When we get frail from the busyness of life and actually stop, look at and be connected in this beautiful setting with creation and to our life source. So that's been really nice for me. More than nice. It's been nourishing.”
When asked what a highlight of the retreat was for her, she said that sharing story with other women was a highlight.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to appreciate that every story has experience with the obstacles of life and in sharing story, although they're all quite different, the idea of disorder and imperfections allows people to find faith in the mystery of life.”
Kate touched on something that is central to the ethos of Women of the Well, that is - creating a space for ALL Women who have faith, no matter what depth of faith, place or denomination.
“We've experienced people from all different faiths and all different walks of life. So not knowing where you are in your relationship with God, if God is in your life, but with faith, you know, it's like the wind, you can feel it, but you can't see it.
This allows you to really explore faith wherever it is, on whatever level, and it's that idea, like Richard Rohr said, that faith is experiencing obstacles in life, not overcoming them. So to be able to experience Women of the Well is a start in knowing where you are on your journey with other people, also who are on their own faith journey wherever they may be. So book in.”
